After interning at Paul Smith for four
weeks, I was privileged enough to be invited to their show at London Fashion
Week. It was one of the most surreal and incredible experiences of my life,
seated amongst some of the greatest and most respected names in the fashion
industry, I was a little starstruck to say the least! The show was held at the
Tate Britain, a magnificent venue to showcase the Best of British!
Paul Smith is renowned for his
'classic with a twist' style and he displayed this at its best at LFW. The
collection was full of vibrant colour and flawless colour blocking, cerise was
pared with purple, vivid rust teamed with turquoise, "it's so dour out
there at the moment - colour makes us happy" and it certainly put a smile
on my face.
The collection highlighted Sir
Paul's signature effortless boy meets girl phenomenon, full of exquisite
tailoring the collection was made up of cropped trousers which were worn with
oversized tweed coats, strapless mini dresses with masculine blazers, loafers
with skirts and shirts.
Although packed full of classics this
collection had a little bit of edge...metallic trousers were worn with crisp
shirts and chunky boots giving a rock and roll vibe to the show. Fabrics were
luxurious with a mixture of georgette, crepe de chine and soft cashmere.
The models created a rainbow of colour as
they walked to David Bowie's Let's Dance in the finale.
"My girl is the type of
girl you'd want to meet on the street"
-Paul Smith
(actually, we would just quite
like to be her)
have a pretty day
lots of love
